About the Ball Float Switch XX Type

The Ball Float Switch XX Type is part of the ELEHPD FLOAT SWITCH range. Ball Float Switch XX Type — XX type ball-type cable float switch (factory catalogue designation); 250V/380V, 10A, IP68, polypropylene float. ELEHPD manufactures and exports low voltage electrical products from Yueqing, Zhejiang, China, supplying distributors, panel builders, M&E contractors and OEM buyers worldwide.

Typical applications

How to specify the right FLOAT SWITCH

  1. Match the contact rating to the load: direct switching for small pumps, a contactor for larger or three-phase motors
  2. Pick the contact form and logic to the duty: NO to fill, NC to empty, so the pump fails safe
  3. Choose the mounting: cable pendant for sumps, side-mount for a fixed point, magnetic/rod for narrow tanks
  4. Confirm the float material and cable jacket against the medium and temperature (PP for water, oil-resistant for pits)

Specifications

Ball Float Switch XX Type

Cable Float Switch uses one-step shaping injection molding with substantial structure, cheap price and long lifetime.

It has very good control effect for long distance, multiple level control, submerged pump or liquid with grain or block.

Certainly it is also useful for normal liquid. It uses a Micro Switch to make connection output. Connection point capacity 10A/250VAC can start the motor equipment directly.

It can be regulated freely and easy to operate, convenient to install, safe and reliable, without maintenance, non-toxic and environment friendly.

It can resist sewage so that widely used in pool in resident, factories and mines ect., and ponds, barrel, manger and pot with oil, acid and alkali as well as the vessel with high viscosity and suspended substance.

Frequently asked questions about the Ball Float Switch XX Type

Can a float switch run a pump motor directly?

Only when the contact rating comfortably exceeds the motor inrush. A small single-phase pump up to the contact rating (for example 10(8) A at 250 V AC) can be switched directly; above that, or on three-phase motors, use the float as a signal into a magnetic contactor so the contacts only carry the coil current.

What cable length should I order?

Base it on tank depth plus the hysteresis you need between the fill and empty points, then add about 0.5-1 m of slack for the tie-off. Remember a longer cable lowers the trip point, so order a standard length (2, 3, 5, 10 or 15 m) rather than cutting to an odd size.

Float switch or electrode switch?

Use a float switch for non-conductive liquids, sludge and single on/off points, and where the switch must drive the pump directly. Use an electrode (conductivity) switch for clean conductive water and where several level points are needed from one controller.

Which IP rating do I need?

At least IP68 for a float that is continuously submerged in a sump or tank. Check the temperature range covers both the liquid and any steam or frost above it, and choose an oil- and chemical-resistant cable jacket for sewage pits.
