About the ME RCBO

The ME RCBO is part of the ELEHPD RCBO range. ME RCBO ME RCBO General description This unit combines the overcurrent protection of the "ME GUARD"mcb with an electronic r.c.d capable of high sensitivity operation with special fail-safe features. The unit is ready for installation in"ME GUARD"SPN type A or type B boards operating on single phase 240V system. The unit provides single-phase protection against overload, short circuit and earth leak ELEHPD manufactures and exports low voltage electrical products from Yueqing, Zhejiang, China, supplying distributors, panel builders, M&E contractors and OEM buyers worldwide.

Typical applications

How to specify the right RCBO

  1. Match the rated current to the circuit design current, then check the cable ampacity
  2. Pick the trip curve to the load: B for resistive/lighting, C for general mixed loads, D for motors and transformers
  3. Confirm the breaking capacity meets the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation
  4. Verify the pole configuration (1P, 1P+N, 2P, 3P, 3P+N, 4P) against the system earthing arrangement

ME RCBO

ME RCBO

General description

This unit combines the overcurrent protection of the "ME GUARD"mcb with an electronic r.c.d capable of high sensitivity operation with special fail-safe features. The unit is ready for installation in"ME GUARD"SPN type A or type B boards operating on single phase 240V system. The unit provides single-phase protection against overload ,short circuit and earth leakage currents.
OVERCURRENT PROTECTION
Overcurrent protection to circuit conductors is provided by thermal and magnetic tripping elements is the line side ,equivalent to the "MEGUARD"mcb and is available in both M3 & M6 versions.Operating characteristice on overcurrent (the time/current curves)are as for the "ME GUARD"standard m.c.b..This section of the unit complies with the requirements of BSEN60947-2 for miniature circuit breakers,Short circuit requirements comply with BS4293.
EARTH FAULT PROTECTION
The r.c.d elment of the device provides core-balance detecton of the difference between line and neutral currents and amplificaton to provide high sensitivity.
OPERATION OF THE TEST BUTTON
This check is made aftor installation with all shields and covers in place ,and requires the MCB/RCD and the main supply switched on.

Pressing hte button marked "T" on the MCB/RCD applies a simulated earth-fault to the MCB/RCD whichshould trip instantly.
This should be checkde frequently, at least quarterly. If the MCB/RCD fails to trip seek expert advice.
NOTE:
Operation of the test device checks only the correct functoninge of the MCB/RCD at a higher currect than the rated tripping level. This test does not check the integrity of the earthinge system.
INSTALLATION
1. Fit MCB/RCD unit as required into "MEGUARD"consumer/distribution board.
2. The BLACK flying neutral supply lead must be connected to the Neutral supply terminal block.
3. The LOAD connections are made to the outgoing terminals of the unit marked 'L"LOAD and "load.|
NOTE:The neutr al supply terminal block.
4. High voltage insulation testers must not be used with the unit in circuit.to carry out hv tests disconnect load side cables from MCB/RCD unit and test circuit as normal.

Frequently asked questions about the ME RCBO

What is the difference between an MCB and an MCCB?

An MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is a DIN-rail device for final circuits, typically rated up to 125 A with a fixed trip curve. An MCCB (moulded case circuit breaker) is a larger device for main and sub-main distribution, usually 16 A to 1600 A, with adjustable thermal and magnetic settings and a higher breaking capacity. Use an MCB for branch circuits and an MCCB where you need adjustability or higher fault ratings.

How do I choose between a Type B, C and D trip curve?

Type B trips between 3 and 5 times rated current and suits resistive loads such as lighting and heaters. Type C trips between 5 and 10 times and is the general-purpose choice for socket circuits and mixed loads. Type D trips between 10 and 20 times and is used for loads with high inrush, such as motors, transformers and large LED drivers.

What does 6 kA breaking capacity mean in practice?

It is the maximum prospective short-circuit current the device can safely interrupt. 6 kA covers most domestic and light commercial installations. Where the transformer is close and the fault level is higher, specify 10 kA devices so the breaker still clears the fault without damage.

Can these devices be supplied with your own brand?

Yes. OEM branding, buyer-specific labels, custom carton print and private-model numbering can be arranged on qualified order volumes.
